Octopus

Advices How is octopus cooked?

After defrosting the octopus, heat up some water in a pot and once it starts to boil, "scare the octopus", by grasping it by the head and then plunging it into the water and taking it out three times. This makes the tentacles curl. Then put it into the pot and let it cook for about 20 minutes per kg, i.e., if the octopus weighs 2 kg, let it cook for 40 minutes. In all cases, it is advisable to prick the octopus from time to time to check that it is cooked. Once cooked, leave it in the pot for another 20 minutes, then take it out, drain it, cut it up into small pieces and prepare it in your favourite way.

Swordfish

Advices Is the swordfish a type of shark?

The swordfish is a cartilaginous fish that lives in salt water. It lives at a depth of between 200 and 800 metres, and is found in warm waters all over the world where the temperature is above 15º C. However, it can also swim and hunt in waters with temperatures of around 5º C. The length of the fish may exceed 4 metres and it may weigh more than 500 kg, but most specimens are normally about 2 to 3 metres long and weigh 120 kg. The swordfish is in actual fact a shark that belongs to the white shark family. Swordfish meat is sometimes confused with that of other sharks that are also caught for food, such as the dogfish or mako shark, since they have a similar appearance.
